Job Description

Position Summary

The Financial Controller will oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and internal control functions for a medical device’s distribution business. The role ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, manages margin performance across product lines, and supports operational efficiency across supply chain, warehousing and sales channels. The ideal candidate has experience in medical device distribution, healthcare products or a regulated wholesale environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

•  Lead all financial accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, general ledger, fixed assets and inventory accounting.
•  Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements per GAAP/IFRS standards.
•  Maintain accounting policies and internal controls suited to healthcare distribution and regulatory requirements.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis :

•  Lead annual budget development and periodic reforecasting processes.
•  Conduct financial analysis to support pricing, discount structures and margin optimization across product categories.
•  Track KPIs including gross margin, inventory turnover, DSO, DPO, fill rate and logistics cost ratios.
•  Provide insights on cost efficiency, profitability by customer/channel and operational improvements.

Inventory, Supply Chain & Distribution Finance

•  Manage inventory control, cycle counts, and valuation across warehouses and distributor networks.
•  Partner with supply chain and logistics teams to optimize stock levels, reduce obsolete inventory and improve working capital.
•  Oversee landed cost calculations, including import duties, freight and handling charges.
•  Ensure financial integrity of distribution agreements, vendor rebates, consignment arrangements and credit terms.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

•  Ensure financial compliance with healthcare-related regulations (FDA, MDR, local Ministry of Health requirements).
•  Maintain documentation required for audits, regulatory inspections and quality system compliance (e.g., ISO 13485 if applicable).
•  Coordinate internal and external audits; ensure adherence to strong internal control environments.

Cash Flow & Treasury Management

•  Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity on an ongoing basis.
•  Manage banking relationships, cash disbursements, credit facilities and treasury activities.
•  Oversee credit control and collections to maintain healthy accounts receivable performance.

Business Partnering & Leadership

•  Collaborate with sales, operations, regulatory and supply chain teams to support business growth and efficiency.
•  Provide financial guidance for vendor negotiations, pricing strategies and new product introduction.
•  Support senior leadership with strategic planning, scenario modeling and performance dashboards.
•  Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team.

Qualifications Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field (master’s preferred). • CPA, CMA, ACCA or CA qualification strongly preferred or inter CA.
  • 5–10+ years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including experience in medical devices, healthcare products, pharmaceuticals or distribution/logistics industries.
  • Prior experience managing inventory-heavy and distribution-focused operations is essential.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of GAAP/IFRS, revenue recognition and financial controls.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems common in distribution organizations (e.g., NetSuite, SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Knowledge of landed cost, consignment inventory and rebate accounting.
